It’s the age old question – “how do I know when I’m ready to outsource?” and annoyingly, there is no simple answer. The reality is, your business is as unique as your fingerprint, so business growth and subsequent milestones are going to look different for each and every brand.
What we’ve noticed however, is there are a few common threads that motivate clients to knock on our (digital) door and enquire about social media services. Sometimes they might be experiencing all of these things, other times it might be one or two that push them over the edge, but regardless of the number, if you find yourself nodding your head to any of the below, we’d love to have a chat!
1. The thought of keeping up with the social landscape is stressing you out
And oh, do we get it. The digital marketing and social media industry is an absolute whirlpool of updates, strategies, best practices, dos and don’ts, etc etc., and just like a whirlpool, you can get stuck and absolutely feel like you’re drowning. We get it because even as seasoned professionals with after clocking up 12 years of industry experience, we have also fallen victim to the anxiety and stress caused by the always-on social landscape.
The good news is, when you take the plunge and decide to outsource, it’s one less thing your busy, business-owner brain needs to focus on, and you can take the pressure off yourself and land it safely in our lap (I promise we don’t mind!).
2. You don’t have time to adequately do your business justice online
I’m yet to meet a business owner who isn’t stretched too thin. Competing priorities, tight deadlines, sales targets, staff management and all the things are competing for space in your day (and brain), so it’s really no surprise that social media falls down the list of priorities for many businesses. The difference here though, is that our clients know how important social media is for their business. They want it to shine and reflect the quality of their brand, but they just don’t have the resources to adequately do it justice. This is where we come in. Think of us as an extension of your team. We work alongside you, hand in hand to ensure your investment (in us) is one that continues to pay dividends for your biz.
3. Your business is growing / Your business isn’t growing
You might be thinking it’s a bit odd to lump these two together as from the outside, they are both completely different motivators, however there are some big similarities that we see time and time again, so keep listening.
Your business is booming: firstly, yay! It’s a great feeling and amazing milestone to hit when your biz starts to soar, however it often means that resources are stretched thin as you haven’t had time to scale, hence the need for a little outsourcing assistance. You might also find that as your business grows organically, your online presence doesn’t quite match the word of mouth, anecdotal feedback you receive. Perhaps your logo is old, you don’t have a clear brand palette or colour scheme, or your posting schedule doesn’t resemble much of a schedule at all. And the more traffic you receive to your accounts, the more dread you feel. This is a great time to pass the social baton on to someone you can trust, to consolidate your brand and really allow it to reflect your vision and identity.
Your business is in a rut: Likewise, when your business is going through a slight rut or your growth has slowed, it can also be a great time to invest in growing your online presence. Yes, I know that during these downturns it might feel like the last thing you should be doing – spending more money outsourcing – but the reality is investment is often required for growth and if you want to start seeing traction again, you’re going to need a strategy to pull it off.
4. You’re struggling with coming up with creative ideas
When you’re not used to generating creative marketing ideas and coming up with new and exciting content, it can feel like a drag month on month trying to make your brand sing on social media. Ultimately, to be successful on social channels, creativity is required. You need new ideas, new content to really drive your growth forward, so why not leave it up to the pros (us!) to help you out. We work super closely with all of our clients so you can be involved as much (or as little) as you like, and can take full advantage of our ideas factory that runs just about 24/7.
5. You’re not seeing the results you want to see
Here’s the scenario: you’re doing all the things – you’re posting, hashtagging, taking snaps on your iPhone, chucking up stories etc etc., but you’re just not seeing any growth or traction. Firstly, you’re definitely not alone. It’s harder than ever to grow your brand online, especially if you’re not looped in with the latest best practice or don’t have a clear strategy in place to drive your business forward. If this is you, and you still want to manage your socials but you need a little push in the right direction, we can definitely help you out with a fully fleshed out, personalised strategy.
So how did you go? Do any of these reasons resonate with you? Like I said, sometimes it’s just the one reason that makes you take the plunge, or perhaps you’re nodding along to all five, deep in the cycle of overwhelm. Regardless, we’re here to help, even if it’s just a strategy chat or brainstorm.
